Campfire Ministries
Is dedicated to providing Biblical teaching to teens, men, women and parents.
Some of our current teaching topics include:
Teen Camps/Retreats:
The Return of the King: In this day and age as we live between the first and second coming of our King we wait with anticipation but live for such a time as this.
Surviving Middle School 101: In elementary school everyone is our friend, in high school we find our group and steer clear of the others. The middle years are fraught with frustration and angst as we find our path.
Mary Magdalene: A Princess Story: Every little girl has, at one time or another, dreamed of being a princess. Every princess begins in captivity, is rescued, quests for true love, fights the dragon and reaches her Happily Ever After. Using video clips from Disney's "Enchanted" we see how Mary lived these steps to becoming a princess of the true King.
Fabulous Failures: Thankfully when God left his word, he made note of many of his people who made spectacular mistakes on the road to faithful service. Walk with us as we explore some of them including Gehazi and Peter.
Women's Ministry Topics:
I Can't Even Make Soup: There are days when it seems we can't even dump the can of soup into a pan and have it turn out right. Based on my article in the October 2008 issue of Lookout Magazine "I Can't Even Make Soup" explores some reasons why we fail and how we can strive to do better.
Sooth the Savage Breast: Every woman in my family over the age of forty has dealt with breast cancer. And each woman chose a different way to deal with her diagnosis. Sometimes life sends us lemons and we have to make a choice. During this time we talk about what motivates us to make certain choices and how to make appropriate, biblicly-based decisions in high stress situations.
I Walk the Line: Every mom walks the line between caring for ourselves and caring for our families. How do we find time to do the work to which we've been called, make our children and husband feel special, and minister to our neighbors? Let's explore some creative ways to walk the line.
Neighborhood BBQ: Have you met your neighbors? Do you know more about them than what they do and who's in their family? In this day of flying time we parcel ourselves to church projects, school functions and community events but find little time to get to know the people on whom we could have the biggest impact, our neighbors.
Energy Management: How can we stay motivated and energized to be the best mom at 8pm that we are at 8am? How can we have as much physical, emotional, and spiritual energy at 53 that we had at 23? Join this afternoon of encouragement, entertainment and a few tips to keep energy high, frustration low and a happy household.
Parenting Seminars:
Expectation Aggravation: Do your kids know what you expect of them? Do you know what you expect from them? This seminar will help you learn how to detail clear expectations...for every member of the family.
You Did What?: It's easy to issue a consequence for a bad grade or a missed curfew but how do you consequence a child for stealing a car or bullying? This seminar details how to be creative, firm and fair with the punishments and rewards you issue your child.
Bonding vs. James Bonding: Have you met your teen lately? Do you recognize this almost adult living in your household? This seminar discusses ways to help you know and love your teens and to help them learn to know themselves.
